Freeway Fire

Los Angeles City firefighters battle a fire along the NB 405 freeway at the Devonshire exit in Mission Hills. The fire started on the southbound side and soon jumped to the northbound side of the freeway causing both on and off ramps to be closed. It took 80 firefighters over a hour to knock down the flames. Seth Khachtourin was in the kitchen of his home at 19657 Hatteras St in Tarzana when a large tree came crashing through the roof from his backyard. β€œIt felt like a 10.0 earthquake,” Kahachtourin said as he watched Los Angeles Fire Department personnel move furniture away from the damaged section. Kahachtourian was home alone when the massive tree fell severely damaging the living and dining rooms β€œ it was so loud, it felt like the home was lifted in to the air.” A portion of the home was red tagged by City of LA Department of Building and Safety because of the risk of further collapse.
